Rebuilding Foundations, Strengthening Communities

Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation focuses on addressing the critical post-flood recovery needs in Balochistan by rehabilitating community infrastructure. This component involves repairing and upgrading climate-resilient infrastructure, including irrigation dams, canals, flood protection systems, water supply schemes, roads, bridges, and small community facilities such as schools and health centers. The initiative follows a “Build Back Better” approach, ensuring that the infrastructure is reconstructed with improved engineering designs to withstand future climate-related disasters.

Balochistan Integrated Water Resource Management & Development (BIWRMDP)

BIWRMDP is responsible for rehabilitating community infrastructure in collaboration with the Irrigation Department of the Government of Balochistan. Supported by experts in technical design, procurement, financial management, and environmental safeguards, BIWRMDP ensures the development of climate-resilient infrastructure, project planning, execution, and monitoring resulting in effective coordination with the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) and other stakeholders.

Sub-Components

1. Rehabilitation of Irrigation and Flood Control Infrastructure

Restoring critical flood protection structures, dams, spillways, and irrigation systems to safeguard communities from future disasters and ensure sustainable water management.

2. Restoration of Water Supply Schemes

Rehabilitating damaged water supply systems by improving bore development, pump houses, pipelines, filtration systems, and integrating solar-powered solutions to provide reliable access to clean water.

3. Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Roads and Bridges

Rebuilding and upgrading key roads and bridges in flood-affected districts to restore connectivity, improve mobility, and support economic recovery.

4. Restoration of Small Community Facilities

Revitalizing essential health and education infrastructure by upgrading facilities, restoring utilities, and strengthening service delivery through capacity-building initiatives.
